Chandler Parsons vs James Harden | Rockets beat Mavs 111-108 in preseason

Chandler Parsons didn't have to wait very long to go against his old team after a controversial summer that caused some Texas beef between owners Mark Cuban and Daryl Morey (aka The Spock of the NBA according to Cuban) and some perceived shots from their players.

Back in July, while talking to the Philippines media, Harden made a statement about the team that didn't sit well with Parsons.

“Dwight and I are the cornerstones to the Rockets. The rest of the guys are role players or pieces that complete our team. We’ve lost some pieces and added some pieces. I think we’ll be fine.”

Parsons replied,

“That’s a pretty ridiculous statement, if he meant that,” Parsons said in the interview with Jay Mohr. “That’s one of the reasons why I wanted to go to Dallas. I’m ready for the next step. I’m ready for a bigger role and I’m ready for more leadership. If anyone should understand that, it should be James because he was in the same situation in Oklahoma City. Then he got his chance to come to Houston and shine.”

Parsons also commented on the Rockets going after a " third star."

"They publicly said that they were going out looking for a third star when I thought they had one right in front of them.”

Harden downplayed the drama on Twitter with a series of Q&A tweets ending with this one.

Last night, the two were reunited for a preseason game. Both played 24 minutes and finished with similar stat lines but the Rockets came out on top with a 111-108 victory.  Chandler Parsons: 14pts, 1reb, 1ast, 2stls, 1blk, 3to (3-7 fg, 2-4 3pt, 6-6 ft) James Harden: 17pts, 1reb, 2asts, 3stls, 0blk, 2to (4-9 fg, 1-4 3pt, 8-9 ft)
