Chase Adams transferred into Chicago Orr Academy leading into his senior year. The dynamic point guard took a little time to get comfortable with the 2A defending Illinois state champs.
And now with Chase at point guard, the Orr Academy Spartans (23-3) are about to play for their first ever Chicago Public League title where they will face Simeon.
But first let's show how they got there. #2 Orr faced #3 Curie. Curie beat Orr in Curie's first game of the season. Curie's only in-state losses were 2 to #1 Simeon.
Curie jumped out first, but Orr's big physical front court of Dannie Smith (17 points, 10 rebounds)and Raekwon Drake (16 points) were too much to handle.
Chase Adams shot well (14 points) and Brian Hernandez (13 points) showed his range for Orr.
Final score was Orr 71-Curie 59. Curie (23-4) was led by guards Maurice Commander (16 points) and Marquise Walker (12 points).
Orr's basketball program is prominently featured in new FOX documentary "Shot in the Dark", executive produced by Dwyane Wade and Chance the Rapper.
