I’ve heard people call DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins a lot of positive and equally negative things, from best center in the league to biggest a$$hole in the league. On Sunday, Boogie provided ammo for both of those statements: he had another monster double-double with 24 points and 20 rebounds in a duel with Robin Lopez – 23 points and career-high 20 boards – in a win against the Knicks and he had a small incident with MSG security.
After complaining to the refs, it appears in the following video, a MSG security guard bumped into Boogie, who then gave the guard a little push, which resulted in some dirty looks from the two.
“Actually I think he was trying to remove me from talking to the refs, so he kind of put his hand on my back and tried to move me forward,” Cousins said about the bump. “So I don’t think it was that big of an issue, honestly.”
It might have or might not have been that big of a deal but it was enough for Knicks legend and broadcaster Walt Frazier to call Boogie an “open-faced sandwich.”
If you are wondering if “open-faced sandwich” falls under the negative or positive things said about Boogie, Walt called Raymond Felton the same thing a couple of years ago and explained it by saying “you can tell everything from looking at him.”
