Before Gerald Green, before Kevin Garnett and even before JR Rider, the original high flyer on the Timberwolves was a skinny 6’7″ poster maker by the name of Doug West. A frequent star on NBA Jam Session montages back when Inside Stuff was a fun show worth watching and a participant in the not so memorable 1992 NBA dunk contest.
West played 11 seasons in the league and although he was never known for much more than dunking — despite being the franchise’s all-time leading scorer until KG came around — 11 years out of a 2nd round pick is pretty impressive.
You can now spot West coaching in the NBA D-League.
