Rookie Shabazz Muhammad has all the tools to be a great NBA player but some would say the saying “not the sharpest tool in the shed” fits better than the Timberwolves hat he was wearing on draft night.
After being sent home from the NBA rookie program for breaking rules and having a woman in his room and being threatened to play in the D-League by Coach Flip, Shabazz should have plenty of built up frustration and motivation to workout harder and prove all the critics wrong. Time will tell if Shabazz shows the maturity he needs to but his latest Instagram shows a pretty impressive display of athleticism as he shows off his “favorite drill to end a workout.” The drill looks therapeutic for him and a way to release some of that built up frustration.
In our league, you have to be disciplined and being ‘disciplined’ is being able to adhere to whatever rules are given and you gotta abide by the rules. So that’s been disappointing. But when I talk to him, he’s either gonna learn the rules and learn to abide by things with the big boys or he’s gonna really quick learn a geography class: where Des Moines is in the NBDL down in Iowa. – Flip Saunders
