In 1984, Chicago Bulls’ Michael Jordan shocked the league with his black shoes. In 1995/96, Jordan once again shocked the NBA when he and his 72-10 teammates wore black socks in the playoffs. During the upcoming 2015/2016 season, Chicago native Dwayne Wade and many other players will be making a new fashion statement by wearing multi-colored socks instead of plain white or black.
The NBA and Stance, who Dwayne Wade also has a personal deal with, have formed a new partnership which will allow the sock makers to produce socks as fresh and unique as the sneakers on the players’ feet.
The NBA will also, for the very first time, sell “NBA socks” to the public, and if you have ever worn a pair then you know how comfy and awesome they are. The USA Today even had a funny story yesterday about Dwyane Wade meeting his Gabrielle Union’s Dad for the first time and his future father in-law asking if he had any extra NBA socks.
If you have some design skills, Li-Ning is giving you an opportunity to design some fresh shoes for Wade to go with his new fresh socks. Click here to enter the #MakeYourOwnWOW contest.
