Thomas Allen Flourishes in Sold Out #HoopState Game of the Year!

Tuesday night the basketball community in the 919 got an incredible high school experience. Millbrook (#3 seed) traveled to Garner to take on the #2 seeded Trojans in a NCHSAA Quarterfinal match-up. This would serve as the last home game of the season for Garner and the fans did not sleep on their opportunity to witness some amazing basketball. A sold out crowd of around 1500 enjoyed a game that included 180 total points. Garner started off hot, gaining as much as a 19 point lead in the first half behind Garner junior point man, Thomas Allen. In the second half, Millbrook stormed back and cut the lead to one thanks to the hot hands of senior Trejon Jacob and junior Jordan Whitfield. In the end Thomas Allen & company were just too much handle. Garner was lead by Allen's 23 points, senior Nick Kuhns had 19, junior Omari Harris with 15, Andrew Abrom with 11, and Alex Reed finished with 10. Also worth noting, Garner's Omari Harris has some legitimate bounce. Millbrook was paced by Trejon Jacob's 29 points, including six three-pointers. Jordan Whitfield's inspired second half performance netted him 24 points and senior John Burwell finished with 17. Garner will face #1 seed Cary in the east regional championship at noon on Saturday in Fayetteville. We'd like to send our prayers out to Gee Kalejaiye, who took a serious fall in the second half of this game. Reports are he is doing better but a scary moment nonetheless, get better soon family!
