Kobe Bryant was on Jimmy Kimmel last night and when asked what current player he would build a team around he named MVP candidate James Harden.
Earlier in the night, Kobe’s franchise pick was taking on birthday boy Andrew Wiggins and the TWolves and despite missing his first 7 shots, Harden had another MVP night and finished with a 31 point triple double – making him the first Rocket since Hakeem to have a 30 point triple double.
“When I get my teammates confident to shoot their shots and be aggressive and get them in their rhythm, I can get into mine and that makes everything easy,” Harden said.
The league leader in scoring did make everything look easy especially on the highlight of the night when he broke Ricky Rubio’s ankles before hitting one of his 5 3-pointers and doing a little celebration dance.
“He was amazing for others and for himself,” Houston’s Terrence Jones said. “He’s just been that leader this whole year that’s been carrying the team.”
Also worth mentioning was he had a career-high 4 blocks to go with his 11 rebounds and 10 assists and became the first Rocket to have multiple triple doubles in a season since Stevie Franchise back in 2001.
