In winning his 2nd consecutive A.C. Williamson (MVP/sportsmanship) trophy, Junior Jabari Parker lead Simeon to its 2nd consecutive Pontiac Title before record-breaking crowds (2800+ per game).
Writing “Mac Irvin” and “The Godfather” on his shoes, Parker paid tribute to a family friend, the prominent Chicago basketball figure on the day of Irvin’s funeral (back in Chicago).
The Simeon Wolverines finished the regular season 26-1 after defeating Chicago Curie in the Pontiac Holiday Tournament title game and later in the city championship game.
The Pontiac Holiday tournament is highly regarded among Illinois HS basketball fans for the quality of the teams (City vs. Suburban) hospitality of the hosts and volunteers, the diehard, enthusiastic crowds and the old-school Central Illinois gym.
