Jason Kidd Slaps The Ball Out of the Refs Hands, Gets Ejected - 2 Years After Thanksgiving Cupgate

I'm not sure what it is about Jason Kidd and Thanksgiving but he seems to get a little crazy on games before the holiday.  You might remember 2 years ago when he hilariously told one of his players to "hit me" so he could intentionally spill his drink on himself with 8.3 seconds left in the game to buy some extra time since his team was out of time-outs. The plan did buy him some time but they still lost and the NBA fined him $50k for the stunt.

On the eve of Thanksgiving this year, Kidd caused another scene when he was ejected with less than 2 minutes in the game after slapping the ball out of the refs hands.

"I was having a Coke and eating some popcorn," Kidd said. "I was sent in early. I don't know what happened."

According to Kidd, just like 2 years ago, he just wanted a time-out. So he went on the court to have a few words with referee Zach Zarba.

"We had our discussion. He gave me a (technical)," Kidd said. "From there, I was trying to protect my guys. Understanding that we felt that we were getting fouled and the whistle wasn't being blown. My job is to protect those young guys. But that wasn't the issue of the game. They got our temperature and saw we didn't want to play defense."

Things also reportedly got a little testy between a few of the players after the game including OJ Mayo, Jerryd Bayless and DeMarcus Cousins - although Bayless denied having any words with Boogie.

"I don't know. I wasn't really paying attention."
