Jeff Green was one of the best comeback stories of the year last year. This year, Boston's Jeff Green is just becoming one of the best stories in the league and last night he lead the Celtics with 24 points including a game winning miracle 3 with .6 seconds left to give Boston a 111-110 victory over the defending champions.
Green can thank Dwyane Wade for putting him in the position to make the game winner because Wade, with the Heat up by two, stepped to the free throw line with .6 seconds left and missed the first free throw and then intentionally missed the second to run out the clock but he accidentally missed the rim. DOH!
This gave coach Brad Stevens one last shot at a miracle and the prayer was answered by the miracle that is Jeff Green.
“It is remarkable,” said Stevens. “In college that game’s over. You have to go the length of the court in .6 (seconds), catch and shoot. That’s almost impossible. In (the NBA) you have a chance to catch it with .4 or more. Guys did a good job of getting from the huddle to the court. Jeff made a great play. Gerald made a great pass.” - Coach Brad Stevens
If that wasn't a sweet enough ending, Green also had one of the dunks of the night with this dunk over Shane Battier
