After John Wall ripped his teammates about their effort in their last game, the Wizards were outscored 29-18 in the first quarter of Thursday’s game against the Nuggets. They woke up in the 3rd quarter after John Wall got a tech for shoving Jusuf Nurkic to the ground. Bradley Beal and Markieff Morris came alive, giving the Wizards a two-point lead going into the 4th. John Wall then scored nine of his 15 points in the final quarter and the Wizards came away with a seven point win.
Unfortunately, there was only about 12,000 people in attendance to celebrate the victory.
“You always want that sixth man, that disadvantage to the other squad,” Beal said. “But at the same time, we’re all grown men, we’re all NBA players, this is our job, and at the end of the day, we have to go out there and play the game … if there’s one fan or 30,000.”
Job? It sounds like Beal was paying attention to Wall’s speech.
