Even without Steph Curry in the lineup, the Houston Rockets couldn’t get a win over the Golden State Warriors. After Monday’s 106-115 loss in game 2 of the first round, the Rockets have now lost 6 in a row to them and 14 of their last 15. The Rockets are also 1-6 overall in the playoffs against the Warriors.
Harden had team-highs of 28 points and 11 assists for Houston but was once again outscored by Klay Thompson (34 points) without Curry in the line-up.
“It’s so much easier without him out there. When Steph’s out there, his man just sags in the paint, he doesn’t move the ball, he’s a very selfish teammate,” Thompson joked after the game. “I’m just kidding, man. He’s the exact opposite of that. I think we showed it’s hard to fill that void. No one’s going to do it by themselves.”
Draymond Green flirted with another triple double (12/14/8), starting Livingston made 7 of 9 shots, Bogut was 5 of 6 and Iggy was 7 of 10 off the bench.
“We’ve relied on our depth all year — not just when Steph’s out,”Draymond Green said. “I think we’re the deepest team in the NBA.”
KLAY VS JAMES HARDEN
Klay has a history of stepping up against James Harden when Curry doesn’t play. Back on New Years eve, Thompson backed up his “best shooting guard in the NBA” talk by outscoring Harden 38-30 in a Warriors win.
James will have 2, maybe 3, more chances to get some revenge on Klay but he will probably have to wait until the summer Drew League games for any type of revenge.
