Before Monday’s game between the Lakers and Bucks, Kobe Bryant said Giannis Antetokounmpo aka The Greek Freak is “unbelievable” and probably doesn’t understand “how much talent he has.” When Giannis heard about the compliment, he wasn’t just honored, he was surprised Kobe “even knew who he was.”
Well, he does and after the game, every Laker fan should know too: Giannis recorded his first career-triple double with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists as the Bucks beat the Lakers 108-101. Kobe finished the game with 15 points (3 of 12 shooting) and had some additional nice things to say about Giannis after his big game.
“I talked to him for quite a bit [after the game]. I was in there with [Bucks coach] Jason [Kidd] and we were just kind of talking a little bit. Jason was saying the biggest thing for him is to decide what he wants to be. Does he want to be a great player or not? I said, Listen that’s a choice you’re going to have to make. If you want to be that great player, then you’re going to have to make certain sacrifices and you’ve got to go after it.’ But he has the potential to do it. He has the physical tools. The intelligence. Now it’s just a matter of him believing in himself and going after it. But he has the talent to be a great player.”
