The antisocial has become social #mambatweets
— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) January 4, 2013
Earlier today, 9:13 AM PST to be exact, the "antisocial" Kobe Bryant officially (re)joined the Twitterverse and from the way some people are acting, it was as if a celebrity baby was born. @kobebryant first tweet has 31k retweets and 8k favorites as I start this sentence and by the time I hit the publish button for this post to go out I expect those numbers to be long passed.
Kobe tested the Twitter waters back in September of 2011 for a day before the account vanished faster than the Laker's Championship hopes did during the first couple of weeks of the NBA season and then again on Christmas day via the @NikeBasketball account. Now that the championship hopes are coming back (to some), Kobe has come back to Twitter.
So what made Kobe join Twitter with over 15 million likes on his Facebook page? According to him it's not to beat LeBron or Kevin Durant in followers.
"You're able to get a lot of great feedback about the game but also about the product as well -- what they thought, what they like, what they didn't like," he said. "It's the best way to gauge reaction."
In honor of Kobe losing his Twitter virginity I thought I would post a few other firsts for the Mamba.
