LeBron James’ chasedown block on Courtney Lee on Thursday was more than just the block of the night and a reminder of GM7 of the NBA Finals for Warriors’ fans, it was a payback play for years of getting dunked on and rejected by Lee. Seriously!
The story goes back to the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals, when Lee dunked on James…twice. LeBron lovers will argue no body contact was made and LeBron was coming from behind in one of them, so neither should be considered “on.” But, if the roles were reversed, you would be hearing worshipers of the King saying, “Lee got dunked on by LeBron.”
Part of this story happened just last season during a Sunday game between the Cavs and Hornets. LeBron picked off a pass, dribbled down the court and then had his layup swatted by Lee.
The latest entry in this story happened on Thursday when LeBron got payback by dropping a triple-double (18/13/15) and coming up with the nasty dunk rejection on Lee, who had a nice game (25/6/5 on 10 for 15 shooting) in the Knicks loss.
