Legacy of Pangos All American Camp Continues JUNE 1-3

On June 1-3, 2012 at Cabrillo High School (Long Beach CA), the 10th edition of the Pangos All-American Camp will take place. A decade of helping produce the legend of several future NCAA stars and NBA draft picks. A complete list of Pangos A-A alums that have excelled at the NCAA and NBA levels is too lengthy to produce here, but a few of the "Legends of Pangos" include John Wall (Kentucky/Washington Wizards), Brandon Jennings (Milwaukee Bucks), DeMar DeRozan (USC/Toronto Raptors), Russell Westbrook (UCLA/Oklahoma City Thunder), James Harden (Arizona State/Oklahoma City Thunder), CJ Miles (Utah Jazz), Jrue Holiday (UCLA/Philadelphia 76'ers), Derrick Favors (Georgia Tech/Utah Jazz), Derrick Williams (Arizona/Minnesota Timberwolves), Harrison Barnes (North Carolina/projected lottery pick of the 2012 NBA Draft), Anthony Davis (Kentucky/2012 NCAA champs/projected #1 pick of the 2012 NBA Draft), Shabazz Muhammad (UCLA signee/#1 player in 2012 class), Andre Drummond (UConn/projected lottery pick of the 2012 NBA Draft) and Brad Beal (Florida/projected lottery pick of the 2012 NBA Draft). Four of the Top 6 projected picks of the 2012 NBA Draft (as projected by NBADraft.net) are Pangos Camp alums. Five of the Top 9 projected picks of the 2012 NBA Draft (as projected by DraftExpress.com) are Pangos Camp Top 25 all-star selections.

Our camp skills director since Day 1 has been current ESPN analyst Dave Miller (former long-time NCAA and NBA assistant) and he was right while speaking to the first group campers in June 2003 he remarked that they were "making history". That inaugural group (which included future NBA draft picks (Arron Afflalo, Dorell Wright, Jared Dudley, Robert Swift, Gabe Pruitt and Kyle Lowry) would prove to be the catalysts of a decade of excellence.

The top media/scouts in the nation have always cleared their calendars for the first weekend after Memorial Day every year to make the West Coast journey to Long Beach and this year is no different. National scouts (as well as McDonald's All-American voters) set to return again to Pangos Camp include Dave Telep & Joel Francisco (ESPN.com), Evan Daniels & Josh Gershon (Scout.com), Eric Bossi (Rivals.com), Van Coleman (Hot100Hoops.com), Clark Francis (Hoop Scoop), Brick Oettinger & Rob Harrington (PrepStars.com), Frank Burlison (BurlisonOnBasketball.com), Ronnie Flores (ESPNHS.com) and Chris Lawlor (XOFan.com). NBADraft.com and DraftExpress.com have attended the camp on a regular basis and virtually all video sites like BallisLife.com have had a large presence at the camp the past several years.

Pac-12 referees Bruce Hicks and Frank Harvey will again run their excellent Hicks/Harvey Officials Camp in conjunction with the event.

This year's Top 25 Cream of the Crop Game will be televised on KDOC-Channel 56 (Los Angeles CA) and its sister stations in major markets across the nation.

This year anticipation is building as to which players will cement their national reputations like Shabazz Muhammad and Andre Drummond did last year and who will be the unknown "sleeper" player that emerges and grabs the national spotlight as Anthony Randolph (LSU/NBA) did a few years back. The 100-120 player camp roster is shaping up nicely and will be released the week prior to the camp.
