It’s no secret that Caitlin Clark has been a driving force in elevating women’s basketball to never-before-seen heights, setting records both on the court and in the box office. Clark made even more history on Wednesday, as she was named the NBA 2K27 Deluxe Edition cover athlete and is thus the first WNBA player to ever grace a global NBA 2K premium cover.

While WNBA players have been featured on the cover of 2K’s W edition several times in the past, Clark is the first player to receive the honor for a standard or premium edition of the game. Clark joins Angel Reese (2K26), A’ja Wilson (2K25), Sabrina Ionescu (2K24), Sue Bird & Diana Taurasi (2K23) and Candace Parker (2K22) on the list of WNBA players to be featured on any NBA 2K cover, but there’s no doubt that appearing on the Deluxe Edition carries a little bit more weight. Not just for Clark, but for the WNBA and women’s hoops in general.
“Being on the cover of NBA 2K27 is special because this game reaches fans all over the world,” Clark said. “To be the first WNBA player on her own global cover means women's basketball gets to show up on that stage too, and I am proud to be part of that.”
Summer of Clark
The cover reveal continues a momentous summer for Clark, who also unveiled her debut signature Nike sneaker last month and was recently named a WNBA All-Star for the third consecutive season. Clark is averaging a career-high 20.7 points per game so far this season and ranks second in the league with 7.8 assists per game, only trailing Alyssa Thomas’ 8.1 assists per game. Not to mention, the Fever have won four of their last five games and are now 16-10 on the season and back in solid playoff position.

The Standard Edition of the game releases on September 4, but those who purchase the Deluxe or Ultra edition receive access one week early on August 28. The Deluxe edition specifically, which Clark covers, is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for $99.99 and contains a litany of additional content that includes 100,000 VC and virtual Victor Wembanyama and Caitlin Clark jerseys for your MyPlayer.
Ultra Edition
Legendary point guard Derrick Rose was revealed as the cover athlete for NBA 2K27’s limited Ultra Edition, a $149.99 version of the game that features everything in the Deluxe Edition, plus an additional 35,000 VC, a Season 1 Pro Pass, a Summer Season Pro Pass and even more virtual merch. Rose was previously featured on the standard cover of NBA 2K13, appearing alongside Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin.

“It’s crazy looking back at being on the NBA 2K13 cover to now having my own edition for NBA 2K27,” said Ultra Edition cover athlete Derrick Rose. "During my journey there have been coaches who believed in me, teammates who made me better, and fans who showed up louder than I ever expected. So, this is a chance to inspire young athletes to stay obsessed with the game. To show them that when you put in the countless hours of hard work, it rewards you.”
Like the Deluxe Edition, those who purchase the Ultra Edition get access to the game a week early on August 28. The official gameplay trailer is set to be released on July 28, so stay tuned to see what NBA 2K27 has in store for us.
