Ballislife is back with another can’t miss 1v1 pay-per-view event, Redemption, live from the one and only Motor City on Saturday. The card features some of the most intriguing and potentially consequential matchups in the history of the space and includes the most prominent hoopers on the BIL brand, Detroit legends and even former NBA stars.
If you live nearby, come see the action at Renassiance High School starting at 2 p.m. EST. If you’re somewhere else on the globe, tune into Ballislife’s YouTube channel and catch the action from wherever you may be.
Nas' Winning Streak On The Line
The co-main event features Ballislife stalwart Nasir “The Blueprint” Core, who’s putting his 36-game win streak on the line against yet another former NBA player in Jonathon Simmons. Sims is among a list of pro hoopers desperate to take the crown of Nas’ head, especially after all the chatter we’ve heard from both the Youtubers and the NBA guys this summer. Simmons had productive stints with the San Antonio Spurs and Orlando Magic during his time in the league, but the biggest reason to believe he can stop Nas is because we’ve already seen him take down a 1v1 legend.

In what was effectively his debut matchup in the space, Sims put together a 30-22 victory against Uncle Skoob that put the entire sport on notice. We’ve seen what Sims can do against the best hoopers on the planet, whether that’s mano y mano or in a traditional game of 5v5. For Nas, each game and each moment only gets bigger as he continues to gain notoriety in the hoop world.
Any time Nas makes a brash statement on Instagram Live that gets picked up by the aggregators, he gains more fans and especially more naysayers who want to see him lose. Every time he proves those naysayers wrong and adds another W to that historic streak, the noise on both sides only gets louder. Whether you want Nas to be humbled or to continue his reign, you can’t deny he’s one of the top attractions in all of basketball. Not just 1v1. Basketball. All of it. Maybe even in all of American sports, but I’m not sure you guys are ready for that conversation yet.

Plenty On The Line
The co-main event features Rob Colon vs. Walt Lemon Jr., who is filling in on short notice after Skoob was forced to pull out due to a medical emergency. Don’t be mistaken, however. This is not only a main event worthy matchup, it’s a matchup that could go a long way toward determining who is in line to become the Ballislife One on One Champion.
Walt’s credentials in collegiate and professional hoops are extensive, from earning All-Missouri Valley Conference honors twice at Bradley to being named All-NBA G-League in 2018. However, like Sims, Walt earned this matchup against Rob because of what he’s already proven in his brief time in the 1v1 space. In his debut at Off The Dribble Summer Jam 2 last month, Walt stunned Zae with a 30-28 victory that put water on one of the hottest players in the sport. To say it sent shockwaves through the space would be an understatement, and now Walt has the chance to prove it wasn’t a fluke and that he’s really the guy in this scene.
With that being said, Rob is a challenge that requires a top-tier performance. There’s been countless players who have brought their absolute best against Rob and still came up short, because there’s simply nothing you can do when Thanos’ jumper is hitting and he’s able to get to the rim with ease. When Rob gets on a run and starts scoring at will, it’s the 1v1 equivalent of standing in front of a train, waiting for it to hit you. 1v1 is a sport where strength and the ability to finish with contact are paramount, and it’s hard to argue anyone is better at those things than Rob. Just pray he has an off night shooting if you’re on the other side.
