The 21st official edition of women's basketball's mid-summer classic is set to be staged on Saturday night in Chicago. It will bring together some of the top talents of the league's past, present, and future.
In recognition of the league's 30th anniversary, this year's All-Star squads were assembled by original legends of the game Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon, who did battle in three of the first four editions of the WNBA Finals. Cooper's team features the headlining talents of Paige Bueckers and Breanna Stewart, while Weatherspoon will get to work with league faces Caitlin Clark and A'ja Wilson.
This is the sixth All-Star Game to feature a "fantasy draft" format, a tally that includes the last exhibition bout in Chicago in 2022. Kelsey Plum, then repping the Las Vegas Aces, scored 30 points to overshadow a 29-point, 13-rebound outing for Jonquel Jones in a 134-112 win for a Wilson team that topped Stewart's. Plum was re-elected to this year's even as a member of the Los Angeles Sparks but will sit out due to a leg injury.
