WNBA Commissioner's Cup 2026: Full Schedule, Format and Matchups to Watch

The sixth annual WNBA Commissioner's Cup tips off Monday, and the defending champion Indiana Fever will be looking to do something no team has done before: win it twice.

Here's a breakdown of the tournament.

The Format

Cup play runs June 1 through June 17, with the championship game on June 30.

This year's bracket expands to 49 games due to league expansion. The seven Eastern Conference teams each play six Cup games. The eight Western Conference teams each play seven. Everyone in a given conference plays everyone else once.

Whichever team finishes with the best Cup record in each conference moves on to the title game. If teams are tied, the league turns first to point differential in Cup games, then to head-to-head record. The conference winner with the better overall record through June 17 hosts.

Every Cup game except the final counts toward the regular-season standings.

The Teams

Eastern Conference: Atlanta, Chicago, Connecticut, Indiana, New York, Toronto and Washington.

Western Conference: Dallas, Golden State, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Phoenix, Portland and Seattle.

Toronto and Portland are both first-year WNBA franchises.

The Stakes

The winning roster splits a $500,000 prize pool, and Coinbase, the tournament's title sponsor, throws in another $120,000 in cryptocurrency. That works out to $5,000 per player on both championship rosters.

Each team also picks a non-profit partner that receives a share of the team's winnings as the tournament progresses.

Last Year's Champion

The Indiana Fever beat Minnesota 74-59 in last year's final. Natasha Howard took home MVP honors after going for 16 points and 12 rebounds. Indiana did it without All-Star Caitlin Clark, who was sidelined with a strained groin.

No team has ever repeated as Cup champion. Seattle won the first one in 2021, then Las Vegas in 2022, New York in 2023, Minnesota in 2024 and Indiana last summer.
