I know it’s just preseason and I know everybody wants the young guns on the Lakers to shoot every shot, but if you have been watching Nick Young this preseason, then you will probably agree he needs more minutes and touches.
After 4 preseason games, Young is shooting .597 from 3 and knocked down 3 of 4 against the Kings on Thursday; All 3 came one after another during a 4th quarter run.
Last year, Young shot .325 from 3, which was a career low. Last year was also full of off-the-court drama and distractions that are no longer around. So I’m expecting to see the same Swaggy P and smile I saw during the Drew League this past summer and in a Lakers uniform a couple of seasons ago when the upcoming season starts.
“The way he’s playing right now, it’s going to make decisions tough,” Walton said to Lakers Nation. “Because, he not only gives us such a threat from scoring the ball, he had a couple beautiful assists last game (vs. Portland Trail Blazers) where he drew the defenders and got the bigs easy looks. He’s been one of our better rebounds since we started playing him, and defensively, he’s been getting after people and doing all those things, so it’s tough to keep someone like that out of the rotation.”
