Kobe’s farewell tour is in full swing. What better way to top if off then to get one more signature shoe from Nike for the end of his basketball career. Throughout Kobe’s career he has been heavily involved with the design process of his signature line of shoes.
“Throughout my time with Nike, I’ve obsessed the details of my shoes. For the KOBE 11, we worked to perfect Flyknit for basketball,” – Kobe Bryant
The Kobe XI will be the last shoe Kobe laces up as a professional, so it’s only right that Nike brings their A game to the table for the Black Mamba. Still prioritizing the demands of high performance, lightweight, responsive, and a sophisticated sneaker design. Nike has gone back to the simple essence of a high performance basketball shoe.
As for the details, the Greek God known as Achilles plays a major roll here. On the right heel plate of the Kobe XI is where you can find the Achilles logo while 4 red stitches take place on the counterpart of the sneaker. Representing the 4 massive stitches Kobe obtained after getting surgery on his achilles. Looks like Nike just donned Kobe the Greek god, “Achilles of Basketball” in which I have no argument against.
The KOBE 11 Achilles Heel and coordinated apparel is available January 9 globally at nike.com and select retail locations.
