Jordan was asked about “twerking” in his 2KSports/ESPN interview but I wish he was directly asked if he saw the video “23” and what his thoughts were about Miley Cyrus homage to him. I’m assuming his reaction would be much more funny and explicit than this Space Jam mash-up but this is still pretty amusing.
Miley also caused some controversy with her photoshoot with famous photographer Terry Richardson (google the pics if you want to see more or should I say less of Miley) and in the Rolling Stones interview where she said her video “Wrecking Ball” was influenced by Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” video. Sinead responded with a pretty awesome letter that I’m sure Miley will respond to in typical Miley fashion. The following is the closing paragraph in the letter.
Whether we like it or not, us females in the industry are role models and as such we have to be extremely careful what messages we send to other women. The message you keep sending is that its somehow cool to be prostituted.. its so not cool Miley.. its dangerous. Women are to be valued for so much more than their sexuality. we aren’t merely objects of desire. I would be encouraging you to send healthier messages to your peers.. that they and you are worth more than what is currently going on in your career. Kindly fire any motherfucker who hasn’t expressed alarm, because they don’t care about you.
Although most people will give Rihanna more passes, I wouldn’t mind seeing her tone it down a little. Here’s her new video that will surely serve as a catalyst for many comparisons and comments referencing Cyrus.
