Kalshi is a prediction market site that covers a wide range of categories, including sports, politics, culture, crypto, economics, and climate.
Kalshi doesn’t function like a sportsbook. You’re trading Yes/No event contracts tied to real-world outcomes. Check the banners on this page to see if Kalshi is available in your area. Read on to learn how sports prediction actually works on the site and how to maximize your time on Kalshi.
Trading Yes/No sports event contracts on Kalshi offers a generally positive experience, especially with access to nine sports markets. Still, we identified a notable drawback. Here’s what to keep in mind when dealing with sports event contracts:
With Kalshi sport predictions you’re trading Yes/No outcomes on sports event contracts. You're essentially speculating on sports-related questions the same way traders speculate on commodities or economic indicators.
When learning how to cash out event contracts on Kalshi, youmight ask: “Who will be the next permanent Head Coach of the LSU Football Team?” In a pro basketball context, you might see a market that lets you Buy Yes on whether “Detroit wins by over 4.5 Points.” These contracts come with prices that fluctuate based on how other participants perceive the likelihood of the event occurring. If your prediction is right, your contract settles at $1; if you’re wrong, it settles at $0. It’s that straight.
Another key distinction is that Kalshi operates as a marketplace, meaning you’re trading against other participants, not the exchange itself. This removes the traditional “house edge” and puts the focus on how well you understand these real-world sports events.
Now that we’ve cleared up what sport prediction actually means on the site, let’s take a closer look at the various Kalshi sports markets that may be available to you in your region.

In college football, we predicted outcomes across several categories, including Games, Futures, Awards, Championships, Conferences, and Events. We started with Games and focused on a live matchup between Alabama and Auburn.
Alabama was expected to win with a market probability of 77%, while Auburn was expected to win with a market probability of 23%. This means the market saw Alabama as the clear favorite. Regarding the contract prices, the rates were as follows: Yes was 78¢ and No was 22¢. Yes for Auburn was 22¢, and No was 79¢.
These prices reflect the market’s consensus on each team’s likelihood of winning.
We also observed contracts for spreads and totals:
Moreover, there were various Events to predict on in college football, such as:

In culture, markets included music, awards, and movies; we predicted the Top Artist on Spotify this year.
