As prediction markets sites are still gaining traction in the US, I wanted to make sure that this is a legit site and that it has all the basic features such as regulatory oversight, accessible support, and a robust banking system.

Legal status

I confirmed that OG is operating legally in the US. The platform offers its trade derivatives via CDNA (Crypto.com Derivatives North America), and this operator is regulated by the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission). This effectively means that it can legally offer its services in the US and I’m happy with that.

The OG prediction markets are available in nearly all US states. The only two exceptions are New York and Arizona, where residents are not allowed to trade on any markets. However, there are differences in which markets are available depending on where you live. For example, Nevada, Ohio, Michigan, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Illinois residents are not allowed to trade on Sports contracts, but are allowed to trade other categories like elections and economic indicators.

Security

For security, I found SSL encryption active when I started creating this OG review, and there was a valid SSL certificate provided by Google Trust Services. You also have all the relevant documents explaining how the site works and your rights when using it.

This includes an OG privacy notice, legal terms, cookie preferences, and a cash account privacy notice. I was also happy to see that they have responsible trading tools and support, and notices on the site stating that your money is at risk when trading prediction markets.

Prediction Trading is facilitated through Crypto.com | Derivatives North America (CDNA). Foris DAX Inc. and Foris Inc. (d/b/a OG ) provide access to CDNA, a platform regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), allowing users to trade derivatives in accordance with CDNA’s rules and regulations. 

Customer support

I was impressed with the support at OG, although I would like to see the live chat being accessible from the homepage, as at the moment, you have to open it via the support page. The support center does have a range of articles and FAQs relating to how everything works, and I found it quite useful.

The live chat is the best option though if you want a quick reply, and you can request to send a message via the chat box. I tested this on 4 different days of the week at different times, and each time, I was put through to someone within 5-6 minutes, so I believe it’s active 24/7.

Banking

From my testing, I was able to deposit at OG using Instant Deposit, ACH Bank Transfer, Wire Bank Transfer, Debit Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Venmo. This is a pretty good selection of payment methods and I don’t think anyone will struggle to credit their account. At the moment, it looks as if only ACH withdrawals are available, and I think this needs expanding on in the future.

Getting to grips with OG - desktop and mobile usability

For part of my OG review I wanted to see how easy the site was to use, and if they have mobile accessibility. Overall, I had a pleasant experience here, and I especially liked the design of the desktop site.

I like the sleek style of the desktop site

Predictions sites can sometimes be overwhelming with the sheer volume of info displayed, but I think OG does a great job of making everything easy to understand, and the desktop website looks uncluttered, sleek, and modern. It uses a simple black, white, and orange color scheme which works well, and I love how the different prediction markets are spaced, and the fact that they have graphs showing the price trends over time and how the value of contracts has changed.

It’s a technically sound website too, with fast loading speeds, no errors, and a simple primary navigation at the top of the page where you have links to the main prediction market categories like trending, live, and current popular sports events. I preferred the desktop version to the mobile app, but that might be because I use my PC more.

There is a downloadable iOS app

At the moment, I only found an OG iOS app, and I couldn’t see one on the Google Play Store for Android devices. I tested the mobile responsive browser version for Android phones instead, and this worked just as well as the desktop site. The iOS app is really well made and it looks great. It has the same sleek, uncluttered design as the desktop site, and I think they have done a good job of making the individual prediction markets accessible and easy to understand.

Ultimately, a predictions trading site is only as good as the quality of its event contracts, so for this OG review I took time checking out the market categories, and diving into the individual predictions offered.

I found a solid range of prediction categories

In terms of overall prediction markets categories, OG covers most of the ones I expect to see, including:

• Sports
• Politics
• Companies
• Climate
• Economics
• Culture
• Crypto

Now, some of the categories like culture and climate are fairly limited, and I think that they need expanding with more prediction markets. However, there’s plenty of options relating to US government decisions, company valuations, and global economic issues. I also like the crypto section as they have all-time high price predictions, plus markets for monthly price changes.

There is an emphasis on sports predictions

I believe that OG places more emphasis on sports predictions than any other category. It has live prediction markets for sports, and there are generally more options available for the following sports:

• Basketball
• Football
• Golf
• Soccer
• Hockey
• Motorsport

Generally, you are taking yes/no event contracts on the overall results of games/events, but there are some proposition event contracts too for individual games. I really like how they display the sports predictions though - you get a price trend graph with color indicators, and it’s just really beginner-friendly.

My verdict - OG is a promising new prediction markets site

That’s everything for my OG review and I can confidently say that I recommend this site, especially for sports fans. OG has one of the more robust setups for sports predictions trading that I’ve seen, and I like that it goes beyond the US markets, but also provides plenty of support for international sports events.

There is room for improvement with its non-sport categories though, and I think people looking for things like politics and economics predictions might find the variety a little thin.
