So, a good stopgap, but if you intend to use Polymarket on your phone almost exclusively, then the app is probably your best option.

Whenever you download a new app, it’s always encouraging to find it on the regular app stores rather than jumping through some hoops and maybe doing some things you are not familiar with. On the other hand, getting hold of the Polymarket Android app from the Google Play Store is about as easy as it gets:

2. Hit the search symbol and find Polymarket - check to make sure you’ve got the right one by looking for the logo

3. Hit Install, and watch the app download and install

This is broadly similar, so again, you have minimal security worries, as currently, Polymarket is legal in the US and is overseen by the CFTC. This makes getting started that much simpler and is a matter of following most of the same steps:

1. Hit the App Store logo on your phone to fire up the App Store

2. Again, hit the search tab, and you’re after Polymarket

3. There should be just one available, but check using the logo and the developer

4. Hit Get to start to download

5. Hit open when you’re good to go

6. As with the Android version, sign in or sign up if you are new.

While you are downloading the app for your device, if you check out the user reviews, you would find two slightly differing stories. The iOS users have rated their experience at 4.8 out of 5, so not too much to improve, but it’s not the same for Android. The current rating from Android users is 3.7 out of 5, and historically it has been as low as 2.9 out of 5, with some users commenting on the app being ‘broken’ or just redirecting you to the website, neither of which is useful if you want to get quickly to buy or sell. For that reason, our road test was carried out on a Samsung device to see if the experience has improved.

Our experience with the Polymarket app

This was an easy app to download and install, and it only took a few minutes before we were signed in and browsing the markets. All of the markets sit at the top here, as with the desktop version, so you can scroll along to find what you want. The smaller screen size means there are fewer options displayed at one time, but the same information is there once you click on any market. We’d already added funds so we didn’t test that aspect out, but the actual buying and selling of contracts is a smooth process that we couldn’t find fault with, and was exactly the same as the experience on the desktop, with no hiccups and no Polymarket fees. Our overall impression was that this is simple and easy to use, and the problems indicated by some users may well have been fixed.

Conclusion - make predictions on the move with the Polymarket app

At the start of this brief guide and Polymarket app review, we were worried that you might not see the same performance for Polymarket users because of the smaller screen size and the mixed Android reviews. After finding out that both were available from the app store, we downloaded them easily and gave the Android version a more rigorous run out than its iOS companion due to those reviews. We found the app to be easy to use, and even if we had not already become familiar with the desktop version, it would not have been a problem to get started and browse the markets. Of course, you’ll need to set up your eWallet and buy USDC first, but your desire to use crypto is probably why you opted for Polymarket anyway. Either way, the app is a good move for anyone wanting to use Polymarket while they are out and about.
