Although popular for fantasy sports, Underdog also offers prediction markets, which let you buy and sell event contracts. Known as Underdog Predict, the product is attracting interest from US traders, so I decided to try it.

My Underdog review will cover everything I found in the app. To start, Underdog offers prediction markets across popular verticals, including sports, culture, economics, and politics. I didn’t spot any climate and crypto event contracts, but that’s not a deal-breaker. Continue reading as I explain more about what Underdog offers and other important aspects of the brand’s prediction markets.

What bonuses does Underdog Predict offer?

Unfortunately, I didn’t see a specific bonus for prediction markets on the Underdog app. The promos available are mainly for the brand’s primary product: Daily Fantasy Sports. There isn’t an Underdog Predict promo code available, none of the existing promos on the site can be used on the prediction markets.

How does Underdog work?

With Underdog Predict, you can buy and sell event contracts tied to real-world outcomes. The event contracts are featured in a Yes or No model.

For instance, my first event contract after signing up was for an NFL game, in which the Dolphins defeated the Saints. I predicted the Dolphins to win, so I bought Yes contracts for the team. If I expected them to lose, I would have purchased No, or simply bought Yes for the Saints.

The event contracts on Underdog are priced between $0.01 and $1, with prices based on the implied probability. Importantly, the brand doesn’t set the rates. They adjust automatically as traders buy and sell.

As such, if you see a $0.70 price for an event happening, it means 70% of the market expects it to come true. After the event settles, Underdog pays out $1 per contract for correct predictions and $0 if otherwise.

Yes, Underdog Predict is legal in the US. And as confirmed during my Underdog review, the prediction markets and event contracts are supplied by Crypto.com | Derivatives North America (CDNA), which is an reputable exchange.

However, not all states are eligible to trade event contracts on the Underdog app. The product is only available in these 33 locations: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Disclaimer: Trading derivatives involves risk and may not be appropriate for all. For more information visit: https://ww.nadex.com/rules and https://underdogfantasy.com/rules. For Crypto.com Predictions, the term "pick" refers to a product traded on CDNA.

Sports prediction markets on Underdog

Based on my experience, sports is the leading category for prediction markets on Underdog. The app lists contracts for popular leagues in the US, including the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB. I also saw event contracts for the CFB, and some soccer and tennis competitions.

The exact predictions vary slightly by sport. However, you’ll always see options to predict the game winner, such as the Lakers to win in the NBA, along with spreads and totals. Props are widespread, too, as I found event contracts on touchdowns, passing yards, rushing yards, and receptions in the NFL.

Other common options on Underdog are futures. As the name suggests, the prediction markets let you trade event contracts for outcomes that may happen in the medium to long-term future. Examples include predicting which team will win the AFC or NFC, or which player will emerge as the MVP in a football season.

Multi-team picks

In my review, I was able to trade event contracts across multiple teams simultaneously. With these contracts, all events must occur for the contract to settle as a win.

From my checks, Underdog allows a maximum of four predictions per multi-team entry. Also, you can pick from the same sport or across sports, but not in the same game.

Underdog’s culture predictions

All non-sport prediction markets are listed under the Culture section on the Underdog app. The main subcategories are entertainment, economy, and politics, and here my findings after reviewing each:

🎭 Entertainment

If you want to predict classic culture events, the Entertainment section is the spot to visit. When I checked it out, I found event contracts mainly on the Grammys and Oscars. In other words, you’re looking at music and movie awards.

I traded event contracts related to the Grammy Awards for Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Song of the Year. Meanwhile, for the Oscars, I picked Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Film Editing. For each option, you’re still predicting Yes or No for the featured celebrities via event contracts.

💼 Economy

Underdog’s economy predictions cover event contracts related to trade and business. The markets are not complicated, and you have options such as:

  • Best AI model of the year
  • Largest companies
  • Initial public offering (IPO) dates
  • Fed Decision per month
  • US recession by the end of the year

🗳️ Politics

The Politics prediction category is one of the most extensive on Underdog. It covers all major government and electoral outcomes in the US, including at the federal, state, and mayoral levels.

At the time of my Underdog review, I saw event contracts to predict the winner of the California gubernatorial election and the Georgia Senate race. Also, there were event contracts about the party controlling the Senate and the Trump nominee for Fed chair.

If you’re interested in futures, you can trade events about parties' presidential nominees and the winner of the 2028 election.

Analyzing the Underdog interface

When you visit the Underdog Predict section, you get a similar outlook to every other product from the brand. The backdrop is entirely white, giving off minimalist vibes as there’s plenty of space. Meanwhile, the yellow and black accents add a sleek touch.

I found the Underdog site easy to use, thanks to the clear menus and tabs. However, if you’re going to trade event contracts, I suggest installing the mobile app. It’s available on the Apple App Store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android.

The Underdog mobile app wins it for me because it's more responsive. Plus, there’s dark/light mode that adjusts based on your device’s settings. I can’t skip mentioning the fixed bottom menu, which lets you move from section to section with single taps.

Available payment methods for Underdog prediction markets

Underdog supports various payment methods on its app, but only two types work for prediction markets: debit cards and Trustly. Based on my experience, such a limitation is common with US prediction market brands. The silver lining is that Underdog supports Apple Pay under debit cards, which is my go-to.

You can use any payment method to make a deposit, and the funds will appear in your account within seconds. Underdog doesn’t charge any fees. However, when purchasing event contracts, a $0.10 exchange fee applies. The fee is included by default in the contract price, so you’re not paying for it separately.

Regarding payouts, I used Trustly during this Underdog review. Immediately after the event contracts settle and you win, your Underdog Predict balance updates. When you submit a payout request, you'll receive the money in your bank account within 24 hours. Based on my expertise, that’s a fast turnaround time.

Rating the Underdog Predict support team

Customer service is reliable on the Underdog app. My best channel for getting help is the live chat, which works 24/7. When you launch it, you first select options based on prompts from the AI agent for common issues.

However, if you don’t find your query, just select the Other option, and the AI agent will transfer to a real representative. From my tests, it takes less than three minutes for a human to join.

Underdog also offers email support. After messaging the official contact address, I received a reply in about three hours, which is moderate. That said, the response time mainly depends on when you send your message.

Last but not least, there’s a comprehensive help center from Underdog. It covers all the brand’s products, but there’s a dedicated Underdog Predict section for prediction markets.

Underdog is a smooth prediction market app

My experience from this Underdog review is positive, and many factors contribute to it. The brand scores high in my ratings for offering a broad range of sports prediction markets, which are of primary interest to many traders. Besides that, the culture event contracts, covering entertainment, economy, and politics, are vast.

Underdog falls short by not listing crypto and climate prediction markets. However, the available options are more than enough. With contracts from Crypto.com’s CDNA, you can trade safely on Underdog if you’re in one of the 33 legal states.

How do you get started? It’s simple. Click the banners on this page to visit the Underdog website or download the app today.
