Reggie Miller was the master at kicking his legs out to draw a foul on a defender while shooting a 3 pointer.  So much of a master, that in 2012, the NBA named a new rule to punish the very few shooters who might try this technique “The Reggie Miller Rule.”

Late in last night’s Kings & Raptors game, Kyle Lowry hit a fade-away 3 pointer over Ben McLemore. The whistle blew and most people assumed it was a questionable foul on McLemore.  But referee Michael Smith actually called an offensive foul on Kyle Lowry.  Lowry, who just fouled out, was shocked at the call and then given a technical for running to the other side of the court.

“At first, to be honest, I thought they called a foul on Ben and it was going to be another four point play and it was deja vu all over again,” said Kings coach Malone.

New commish Adam Silver was in attendance so it will be interesting to hear his response to this ridiculous call.
