The Nets didn’t get the win against the Magic on Thursday night but they got a nice performance from Jeremy Lin (32 points) and an exceptional 4th quarter breakout performance from Caris LeVert. Who!?
The rookie connected on 7 of 12 shots and scored 14 of his career-high 20 in the final quarter. Unless you follow the Nets (don’t laugh) or Michigan or your name is Wayne Ellington (scroll down), you might know much about him but he’s been putting up some solid numbers over the past month. During a six-game span in March, he scored 13+ while never taking more than 9 shots or playing over 25 minutes. His previous career-high came against the Cavs earlier in the year when he knocked down 7 of 12 shots, grabbed 4 boards and dished out 5 assists in just 27 minutes. And in the game before Thursday’s career-high in points, he dished out a career-high 7 assists to go with 7 points in just 19 minutes.
Another reason why you probably didn’t hear much about him earlier in the year (besides the fact that he plays for the Nets) is because he missed the summer league, preseason and first month of the season due to foot surgery — his third surgery within two years.
So now that you know who Caris LeVert is, let me show you some of his best plays of the season, starting with the reason why Wayne Ellington knows who he is.
