Hearing Russell Westbrook put up another triple-double doesn’t even sound impressive anymore. We are so spoiled with what he’s doing on a nightly basis, he has to set a record or career-high along with the triple-double to make us raise an eyebrow. On Friday, he did that by getting his 28th triple-double of the season in just 19 freaking minutes (I know the video says 17 but every stat I found from another source said 19). The 19 was just one away from his record for quickest triple-double ever (also against the Lakers) and two minutes away from tying the 62-year old NBA record set by Jim Tucker back in 1955.
He finished the game with 17 points, 18 rebounds and 17 assists in 35 minutes, making him just the 3rd player in NBA history to put up a 17/17/17 game.
OKC also got the win over the Lou-less Lakers. As for the Thunder new additions, McDermott had 8 points in 19 minutes and Taj Gibson had 12 in 21.
