Yesterday on NBATV, they were showing a few high scoring classics including Kobe’s 81, Tmac’s 60 vs the Wizards, one of Iverson’s many scoring outbursts and Shaq’s monster game against the Clippers in 2000 when he racked up a career-high 61 points and 23 rebounds on his birthday.
Over 19 years in the league, Shaq averaged an impressive 29 points and 11 rebounds on his birthday. This game was obviously the most impressive one and it took place during Shaq’s MVP and first NBA championship season, which also included an All-Star game MVP, Finals MVP and a spot on the All-Defense 2nd team while leading the league in scoring.
Here’s a few other monster lines he put up that season.
Suns: 34pts, 18rebs, 8blks
Bulls: 41pts, 17rebs, 7blks
Nuggets: 31pts, 19rebs, 9ast, 5blks
Kings: 39pts, 20rebs, 5ast
Twolves: 33pts, 14rebs, 8ast
Mavs: 38pts, 20rebs
He also had 15 games with 7+ assist and 9 20/20 games.
