After an impressive Summer league debut with 13 points in 24 minutes on Saturday, Johnson had 24 points (10-14 fg) and 9 rebounds in a 8 point win over the Clippers on Sunday.
After the game the always confident Stanley talked about his jumper and his goal of winning every game in the Summer league but Stanley has much bigger goals for the season.
“Play against LeBron [James] — that means something,” Johnson said . “He is the best player in the league and I want to be the best player in the league too, so I have a target on him. I will keep reaching for that goal. … He is a team player so I have to be a better team player to be on the same level as him. Did you see that Game 6 against Chicago where he had like 14 points and 14 assists and controlled everything? The best players win a lot of games, so it is not about your points or your rebounds.”
Not only do I believe in the 2014 Ballislife All-American MVP, who is supposed to be a 6th man, will be a starter in the very near future but I believe he will be one of the league’s best in the not so distant future.
“I think I should dominate every game, honestly. I’m not gonna sell myself short because it’s Summer League or it’s the Cavs or playing the Lakers. To me, it’s about every game having the same effort. Just keep with that, keep with that and if I can dominate, I’ll dominate. But as long as I give the same effort, that’s all the matters.”
