On November 1, 1947, during the inaugural game played between the New York Knickerbockers and Toronto Huskies, 6'0" Benjamin Ossie Schectman of the Knicks scored the first points ever in NBA history. On Tuesday, Ossie passed away at the age of 94.
Living to 94 allowed him to see the first and last buckets by Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem, Bird, Magic, Jordan and every other NBA player that made a living doing what he did first. It's just too bad he was only paid $60 a game, even with inflation consideration, he was making per game as much as most current players make per dribble.
