Trevor Ariza on Playing Jordan 1-on-1 Now “I better be able to beat him”

Earlier in the month, 52 year old Michael Jordan was asked if he could beat some of the current Hornets 1-on-1.  Jordan replied,

“I’m pretty sure I can, so I don’t want to do that and demolish their confidence. So I stay away from them, I let them think they’re good…but I’m too old to do that anyway.”

TMZ caught up with 29 year old Trevor Ariza this week and asked him if he thought he could beat MJ 1-on-1 and Ariza replied,

“I better be able to beat him 1-on-1 right now.”

Which is true. I don’t care how great Jordan or any NBA legend was. No current player, especially a starter…in their 20s, should be able to be beaten by a player who has been retired for over a decade.  In Ariza’s case, Jordan retired a year before he entered the league and Jordan entered the league a year before Ariza was even born.

With that said, a 49 year old Jordan beat a 20 something year old Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
