“Well, it looks like Superman has found a home.”
That’s what Kobe Bryant wrote on his Facebook page after the Lakers acquired Dwight Howard in a four-team trade that sent Andrew Bynum to the 76ers.
“I wish nothing but the best for Big Bynum. I hope he follows what was a great season last year with an even better one next year. I know LA is excited about the deal and rightfully so. The Lakers landed a piece that will hopefully carry the franchise long after I’m gone. I have spoken to Dwight Howard already and we are locked and loaded to bring back the title. Wow, what a summer Jimmy and Mitch have had so far. Unreal! I’m focused on our semifinal game vs Argentina but I had to pause for a few to send you my thoughts, in case you were curious..”
One person who I’m sure did not like Kobe’s Facebook post is the original Superman, who started his career in Orlando and then joined the Lakers with the hopes of winning a Championship. That Superman is, of course, Shaquille O’Neal, the President of the Dwight Howard hater club.
WELCOME TO THE NBA MOMENT
A fun fact about Kobe and Dwight Howard’s history is Kobe gave Dwight his “Welcome to the NBA” moment by putting him on one of the best posters in league history.
“That’s when I realized I was still a rookie,” Said Dwight about the dunk. “He came down the lane and dunked it so hard that I don’t remember hearing nothing else but Boom! That was the first time I’ve ever been dunked on in my whole life. I got clowned for the rest of the season by my teammates, family and friends. I would go to the mall to sign an autograph and see a guy wearing a shirt of me getting dunked on. That’s not a good feeling.”
Kobe also had 41 points, 8 assists, and 7 boards in this game. But the Magic did get the win, thanks to Steve Francis.
RESULTS FROM THE FUTURE
Saying the duo of Kobe and Dwight Howard didn’t work out well is an understatement.
