LaVar Ball initially said the arrest of his son, LiAngelo Ball, and two of his UCLA teammates in China “ain’t that big of a deal.” It was and it’s turning into a bigger deal by the day.
According to ESPN’s Arash Markazi, the talented freshman trio of Gelo, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill didn’t just shoplift glasses from Louis Vuitton (which resulted in a hilarious seven minute roast on ‘Inside the NBA’), they hit up three stores!
As a punishment, the players are expected to serve 20 days of house arrest at the Hangzhou Hyatt Regency hotel, where LaVar, along with his wife and son, LaMelo, are also staying. 20 days at a Luxury hotel > 10 years in a China prison!
The Ball family are also there filming for their reality show and opening up pop-up shops. Over a hundred fans showed up to Friday’s Shanghai shop to take pics and get signatures from the BBB family (minus Zo and Gelo, of course).
As for the rest of the UCLA squad, they beat Georgia Tech 63-60 behind a team-high 18 points (4-6 3PT) from freshman Kris Wilkes and 14 from fellow high-flying freshman Jaylen Hands.
