The most exciting time of year for Chicago HS basketball fans is February’s Public League tournament.

It’s the only time of year where you see top teams from across the city facing off. Many times teams drive over an hour in traffic to face crosstown opponents for the first time.
After going 10-0 in conference play, Chicago Uplift is the North’s number 1 seed and have earned home court. Their first round opponent was Urban Prep Englewood from the South Side. Led by 22 points from versatile, athletic Jayden Gasby, U.P. Englewood made the game close until the final buzzer with host Uplift holding on to win 55-52 and advance to round 2.
2 of the city’s most electrifying players, the Jacobs brothers led Uplift as they have all season. Kansas commit, sophomore PG Markese Jacobs led Uplift with 17 points. Senior Demarius Jacobs (SIU commit) and sophomore transfer Deion Jackson added 13 points.
Next up Uplift hosts the Farragut Admirals from the city’s Red West division.
Ballislife will continue following Uplift and the Jacobs brothers in their quest to win a Chicago city title and Illinois 2A state title.
