Kenyon Martin Explains Why He's Team Kobe Instead of LeBron

The always quotable Kenyon Martin paid a visit to Undisputed on Monday and weighed in on Michael Jordan's "five beats three (Kobe over LeBron)" statement. As expected, the current Big 3 baller, who played for a Nets team that was swept by Kobe's Lakers in the 2002 NBA Finals, said, "Taking nothing away from LeBron, but I'm Team Kobe."

He also said Kobe was the closest thing to Jordan because of that "(Mamba) mentality."

This isn't the first time Martin has given high praise to Kobe. Earlier in the year, this is what the former #1 pick had to say about Bryant via The Players Tribune.

“People can say whatever they want about Kobe, but Kobe don’t take no shit from nobody. Kobe would fight you in a minute. He would. That’s something I think a lot of fans didn’t know. People think of Kobe for all that skillful basketball stuff, but not for the fact that, if you stepped up to him, he’d fight back. Or if you clubbed him or hit him, he’d make you pay.

That’s ’cause Mamba would literally take your head off to win the game, man. He’d fuck you up. There’s a lot of trash talking on the court, but nobody ever said shit to Kobe.”

OLD SCHOOL MENTALITY

My favorite recent quote from Kenyon came this past weekend at the Big 3 stop in Dallas. I asked a bunch of the former NBA players if they thought current players took their 2K ratings too seriously and his response was "It's weak. It's wack."
