Young Chicago Point Guards Duel: KD Wright (Beasley) vs Mason Jones (Kenwood)

In Chicago, basketball is big 12 months a year. Many of Chicago’s top grammar school teams (K-8th grade) end up playing over 50 games per school season when it’s all said and done.
These games are intense and legends are often born at games like this. For the last few decades, Chicago’s top grammar school team has been Beasley Academic Center on the city’s South Side.
They’ve won many city titles (including 2015 and 2016) and its famous alums include Derrick Rose. 2 years ago Beasley went undefeated for the season.
This is a new season and many teams are coming at Beasley. We’re just getting to know this year’s 7-8th grade Beasley team but point guard Kenton ‘KD’ Wright appears to be one of Chicago’s top 8th graders and he’s joined by Jaylen Houston from the West Side.
Beasley faced a formidable opponent in Kenwood, led by PG Mason Jones and big Avery Davis at this year’s Best of the Midwest tournament at Collins HS. Top teams from Chicago and across Illinois battled all weekend and this was the best game we caught.
We just wanted to give Ballislife viewers a raw look at how intense even early-season 7-8th grade games can be as well as your first look at young KD Wright a budding star in Chicago.
Ballislife will continue following the top 8th grade players and teams this season.
