Ricky Davis Cut From D-League Team | The Journey of Knucklehead Tyree Ricardo Ricky Davis

"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score,"
Ricky Davis

I always saw Tyree Ricardo Ricky Davis aka Ricky Buckets and Wrong Way Ricky as the high flying multi talented player that's always in the doghouse in between JR Rider and JR Smith. It seems like just yesterday when Ricky was throwing down impressive dunks and putting up big shallow numbers on the NBA court and causing headaches for teammates and coaches with countless suspensions and knucklehead plays.

So what qualifies as shallow numbers and knucklehead plays?

How about trying to get a triple double with 6 seconds left in a game that you are winning by 25points by shooting at your own basket?  Davis didn't get his triple double but pissed off another straight outta high school knucklehead Deshawn Stevenson to foul him.  A pissed off Jerry Sloan had the following to say about the incident
"I was proud of DeShawn and I would have knocked him down harder. They can put me in jail for saying that, but that's the way it is."
Jerry Sloan, on DeShawn Stevenson fouling Ricky Davis after he shot on the wrong goal attempting to get a triple -double.

How about attempting a between the legs dunk in the middle of a game.

How about the following events that led to suspensions.

12/30/08
The NBA suspended Ricky Davis (LAC) for 5 games for violating the league's
anti-drug policy.
1/20/07
Minnesota suspended Ricky Davis for 1 game for leaving the bench for the
locker room during Friday's Min-Det game.
2/27/06
The NBA fined Ricky Davis (Min) $5,000 for kicking the ball into the
stands during Friday's Den-Min game.
2/23/04
The NBA fined Cleveland $5,000 for a skit in which the mascot made fun of
former Cav Ricky Davis (Bos).
11/24/03
Cleveland suspended Ira Newble for 1 game for a profanity laced tirade
he had with coach Paul Silas following Saturday's Cle-Atl game. Although
not suspended, Cleveland told Ricky Davis and Michael Stewart to stay away
from the team for 2 days and the 2 (though Stewart is on IR) did not
travel with the team to New Orleans.
11/29/02
Cleveland suspended Ricky Davis for 2 games for disciplinary reasons.

For the past few months he's been playing in the D-League with the Maine Red Claws.  After averaging 8.5pts on 39% shooting the loose cannon was cut and at only 32 years old,  it looks like Ricky's chances of coming back to the NBA are done.  Davis has played for the Hornets, Hornets, Cavs, Celtics, Twolves and Clippers. He also had stops in Turkey, China and France.

I wanted to do a "tribute" to the human error/highlight film so let's look back at some high and mainly lows of the man that would of made a perfect JR.

Ricky goes on the radio and talks about playing in the D-League and the future
