Chase Adams has been Marian Catholic's primary point guard since his freshman season (now a junior). Best known for his ball-handling skills and stature, Chase is factor whenever he steps on the court. The Marian Catholic Spartans lost 3 would-be returning starters (transfers) before the season and another starter transferred mid-season, resulting in a very young and inexperienced varsity squad. After a respectable 16-12 season where they played a highly-competitive schedule including out of state powerhouses, #9 seed Marian Catholic met up with loaded #1 seed Chicago Simeon Career Academy Wolverines in the IHSA 4A Regional finals at Eisenhower HS in Blue Island, IL.
Simeon recently won the Chicago Public League with a balanced attack and they are favorites to win the state title.
Despite a team high 14 points from Chase Adams to go with five assists, Simeon ended the Spartans season for a second straight year 56-43.
Simeon won the battle of the boards and it was another balanced attack. Like in the city final, Messiah Jones led the scoring (15 points). Evan Gilyard, Talen Horton Tucker, Madison Lowery, and Kenny Pittman each scored 7 points.
Warren Allen added 12 points, 6 rebounds, Malik TIdwell 9 points, 6 rebounds and TeeAaron Powell 8 points for Marian Catholic.
Ballislife will continue following Simeon in its quest for an Illinois state title.
