Ep. 176 - HSBB Mid-Season All-Americans, MLK Weekend Preview!

On Episode 176 of Ballislife's "In The Paint Show", ITP hosts Ronnie Flores, Ani Umana and Chelsea Hopkins go hard on the high school basketball season up to this point, spotlighting the annual Elite All-American Team by announcing their Mid-Season All-American choices and previewing the top games and storylines from this weekend's Spalding Hoophall Classic.
First, the ITP crew gives their instant reaction to the college football national championship game and Michigan's performance against a Washington program that will be joining the Big 10. Is Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh headed to the NFL?
In our ITP Mailbag segment, Chelsea goes in on the question of whether or not USC's JuJu Watkins is a shoo-in for the 2024 U.S. Olympic National Team. Chelsea also breaks down the youngest Olympians ever and the greatness of Cheryl Miller, the star of Team USA at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Will JuJu be on the team when the Olympics return to L.A. in 2028?
Ron and Ani reveal their 2023-24 Mid-Season All-American first and second five. Both have a surprise pick or two? Is there any sophomore good enough to be a legit All-American this season? What does the announcement that A.J Dybansta of FAB 50 No. 9 Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.) is considering the G-League next season actually mean?
Ron breaks down the updated FAB 50 rankings on the eve of the MLK holiday weekend. Who is the second best team in the country, Paul VI of Virginia or Long Island Lutheran of New York? Why is there so many newcomers (15) and parity?
The ITP crew closes out by dishing on the top matchups and storylines of the Spalding Hoophall Classic. Listen to why ani is looking forward to the matchup between No. 7 Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) and No. 41 Archbishop Stepinac (White Plains, N.Y.) and its top-shelf point guards. Ron is most interested to see if No. 3 Paul VI or No. 27 McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.) can win the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions in Missouri on Saturday night then win a big showcase game on MLK Monday.
The fellas also break down a sleeper performer from Hoophall they are looking forward to and if the 2024 McDonald's All-American Game is going to have a different feel or anything surprising this year.
