Michael Jordan is joining NBC's rebooted NBA coverage as a "special contributor" next season.
The GOAT is joining the peacock.
NBC Sports revealed that NBA legend Michael Jordan will be joining its rebooted NBA coverage when the league returns to its airwaves next season. Jordan was revealed to be joining the cause in a "special contributor" role at NBCUniversal's Upfront presentation in New York on Monday.
βI am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,β Jordan said in an NBC statement. βThe NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and Iβm excited about being a special contributor to the project. Iβm looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.β

Next to Jerry Seinfeld and Frasier Crane, Jordan was perhaps one of NBC's most popular stars of the 1990s: the network broadcast each of his six showings in the NBA Finals between 1991 and 1998, each of which ended in a victory for his Chicago Bulls.
Jordan's role on NBC and its streaming service Peacock will be his first in broadcasting. Since his third and final retirement from the hardwood in 2003, Jordan held ownership in the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets organization and currently holds a minority stake after selling to Gabe Plotkin and Daniel Sundheim. In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Jordan is currently the co-owner of 23XI Racing, a motorsports team that fields three entries in the NASCAR Cup Series.
The NBA on NBC is best-known for its 1990s run between 1990 and 2002, which peaked in the Jordan championship years. NBC is rejoining the NBA media fold (along with newcomer Amazon) when a new coverage deal kicks in next season.
Staples of Jordan's era will join him on the peacock network's traditional and digital airwaves: his 1998 Eastern Conference Finals opponent Reggie Miller is set to serve as a game analyst while coverage will be heralded by "Roundball Rock," the network's NBA anthem penned by John Tesh. NBC will also be using artificial intelligence to recreate the voice of the late Jim Fagan, who would introduce game broadcasts and sponsor tags.
