Continuing our pre-season hoops coverage, I made the journey to Dallas to take in the GASO JUCO/Prep Showcase. Held at the gorgeous Duncanville Fieldhouse, the JUCO/Prep Showcase blended over 50 JUCO’s and prep schools from throughout the country under one roof with courts that made things eeasily accessible to watch multiple games at once. Blue Zertuche, Michael Timmons, and the rest of the GASO staff made things seamless.
Ballislife FAB 50 candidates Dynamic Prep (Texas) and Oak Cliff Faith Family (Texas) headline the group of prep teams with both coming off stellar 2024-25 campaigns. Dynamic Prep, led by consensus top-3 2027 Marcus Spears Jr., was runner-up in the Chipotle Nationals and will be competing in Overtime Elite this season. Oak Cliff Faith Family opted to leave the Texas UIL last season and won the EIBC National Championship last year, and join the EYBL Scholastic League for the 2025-26 season. Countless other prep and charter schools from within the region made the journey to Duncanville, culminating with a loaded two day event:
Having already taken a look at the top high seniors, here are the 2027 standouts we saw at the 2025 GASO JUCO/Prep Showcase:

Marcus Spear Jr., 6’8, PF, Dynamic Prep (Texas)
Same team, new role for Marcus Spears Jr. in 2025-26. After coming off the bench for an absolutely Dynamic Prep squad last season, ESPN’s #1 player in the class of 2027 is now the focal point for the Dallas based program and it showed at GASO. The lefty was unstoppable once he got into the paint going downhill, looked for contact at every available opportunity with a football type mentality, and was incredibly unselfish when the defense focused their attention on him. Spears and the rest of his Dynamic Prep teammates will be playing an absolutely loaded national schedule blending games in the Overtime Elite league with those against traditional national high school powers.
Malik Parrish, 6’8, SF/PF, New Wave Academy (Texas)
One of the hotter names in Texas, Malik Parrish has quickly emerged as a potential high major prospect over the past six months. The super long forward utilizes his wingspan on both ends of the floor, is tough with his straight line attacks to the rim, and creates a ton of second chance opportunities on the offensive glass. Already owning an offer from TCU, Parrish will be seeing plenty more BCS suitors as he continues to refine his skills to match the outstanding tools that he possesses.
Mike Gibbs, 6’8, PF, Leadership Prep (Texas)
A player who I hadn’t seen before, I walked away really liking the game of Mike Gibbs. The junior made some outstanding flashes to open areas, used his length to provide activity on both ends of the floor, and was a willing defender anywhere he was placed on the hardwood. I was only able to catch around a half of a game, but the talent that Gibbs displayed certainly will make me take another look throughout the high school season.
Brayden Williams, 6’3, PG/SG, Oak Cliff Faith Family (Texas)
Playing for a loaded Oak Cliff Faith Family squad, no single player is going to put up monster numbers, but Brayden Williams certainly made the most of things when the ball game his way at GASO. Capable of playing either guard position, the junior showed nice vision as a catalyst, had no problem creating his own shot off the bounce, and utilized his athleticism for some big time finishes at the rack. Already holding D1 offers, Brayden should receive no shortage of attention playing in the EYBL Scholastic League this season.
David Baliraine, 6’9, C, Dynamic Prep (Texas)
Another player who I was evaluating for the first time, David Baliraine was the glue guy on the interior for Dynamic Prep. The junior was outstanding playing through contact at the rim, established position on both ends down low, and changed the game with his intangibles with his high level of activity. While David isn’t going to be the flashiest guy on the floor, the big man was certainly one of the more productive for a stacked Dynamic Prep team.
Hunter McGraw, 6’3, SG, Dynamic Prep (Texas)
One of the players who can fill it up in a hurry, Hunter McGraw showed that he can be that spark plug for Dynamic Prep. The lefty is exceptionally crafty with his change of speed, can score at all three levels, and is willing to give the rock up when opportunities are open for others. McGraw made the move to Dynamic from South Carolina and is already showing his ability to get buckets in the Lone Star State.
