Satou Sabally will miss the fourth, and potentially last, game of the 2025 WNBA Finals as her Phoenix Mercury seek to stage a comeback.
The Phoenix Mercury lost more than a WNBA Finals game on Wednesday night.

Less than 24 hours after falling behind 3-0 to the Las Vegas Aces in the first-ever best-of-seven championship series, the Mercury confirmed that forward Satou Sabally endured a concussion in the already heartbreaking 90-88 Game defeat at the Mortgage Matchup Center. It will keep her out of Game 4, which will be staged on Friday night in the desert (8 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Sabally was the leading scorer among Phoenix starters in Wednesday’s Game 3, finishing with 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists. She was injured 34 seconds past the midway mark of the final period, as she collided with the leg of Las Vegas’ Kiersten Bell after contact with Jackie Young knocked her down in the scrum for a rebound.
Sabally remained on the ground for a few tense minutes before she was carried off the floor by a teammate and a member of the Phoenix training staff. Young was charged with a common loose-ball foul.

At the time of Sabally’s departure, Phoenix trailed by 10, but staged a furious comeback headlined by a Kahleah Copper scoring breakout that tied the game. Alas for the hosting Mercury, newly recrowned MVP A’ja Wilson rendered it all for naught when she put up a game-winning double that fell through with less than a second remaining, allowing Las Vegas to officially stave off the surge and complete the penultimate step on the path to its third championship in four years.
Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson said her “heart is heavy” for Phoenix Mercury forward Satou Sabally, who was ruled out of Game 4 with a concussion.

Through the first three games of the Finals, Sabally is averaging 21.7 points and 6.0 rebounds. Entering the series, Phoenix was 12-5 in games where she scored at least 20 points, including a 23-point, 12-rebound double-double in the first-round closer over the defending champion New York Liberty. Sabally also had 24 and sank five three-pointers in a momentum-shifting triumph over the league-leading Minnesota Lynx, one that changed the course of that series after Phoenix dropped Game 1.
With Sabally out, the Mercury could turn to sharpshooting backcourt threat Sami Whitcomb when it comes to starting five experience. Phoenix has routinely played eight women over the first three games. However, Sabally’s departure could force it to turn to reserves like 6-7 Kalani Brown or re-establish the presence of starter Natasha Mack, who played only seven minutes in Wednesday’s defeat.
