Wilson, who also won in 2020, 2022, and 2024, is now just the second player, after Cynthia Cooper (1997-98), to capture back-to-back MVP honors. She received 51 of 72 first-place votes and finished with 657 total points from a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier was second with 534 points, followed by Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas with 391.

The Aces closed the regular season 30-14, including a franchise-record 16-game winning streak to secure the No. 2 seed in the playoffs. Wilson powered the surge, averaging 26.1 points and 12.0 rebounds during the streak while shooting more than 52 percent from the field.

A’ja Wilson Has Provided Historic Production

Wilson averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 40 games. She led the WNBA in scoring for the second straight year and in blocks for the fifth time. The former Gamecock also finished among the top five in rebounds and steals for the second consecutive season, matching a feat accomplished only once before by Yolanda Griffith in 1999.

She set a league record with 13 games of 30 or more points and tied the record for 20-point games in a season with 25. Wilson added 21 double-doubles, including 16 with at least 20 points. Her postseason numbers have been even more dominant, with 29.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists through three playoff games.

When Wilson reflected on the grind of the season, she made it clear the honor was bigger than just her individual performance.

“Thank you, guys. God is so good—He’s been with us through this whole journey,” Wilson said. “My team knows it hasn’t been easy. They counted us out, wrote us off, but we showed up every single day and worked our asses off.”

She went on to emphasize that her teammates were just as responsible for the moment as she was.

“This has my name on it, but it’s all of us,” Wilson said. “There’s no doubt we wouldn’t be here without every single one of you. I just want to thank you for putting up with me, but more importantly, for never losing yourselves through this process. We’ve been through it, but we never lost hope or belief in each other. That’s what makes this so special.”

Wilson also credited the Aces’ front office and support staff for creating the foundation that allowed her and the team to thrive.

“I can’t thank you enough—from the front office to everyone behind the scenes who doesn’t go unnoticed,” Wilson said. “Thank you for always betting on us. This isn’t done—we still have work to do. I’m so grateful. Thank you.”

Becky Hammon Delivers Praise

Aces head coach Becky Hammon placed Wilson’s achievement in historic perspective, saying it elevated her above every other player in the game.

“Mount Rushmore—A’ja’s on a Mount Rushmore, but she’s also Everest,” Hammon said. “She’s at the peak, and there ain’t nobody else up there.”

Hammon stressed that Wilson’s impact was not limited to her dominance on the court.

“If you’re the best in the W to ever do it, which I believe you are, that also makes you the best player on the planet,” Hammon said.

The coach also pointed to Wilson’s leadership and presence as qualities that make her special.

“With cameras or no cameras, you’re the same person in every room you walk into,” Hammon said. “That’s why everybody is so happy for you—not just because of what you’ve accomplished, but because of how you lead.”

Hammon closed her remarks by crediting Wilson’s family and the values she brings to the team.

“I give credit to your parents—what a hell of a daughter you raised,” Hammon said. “If I had daughters, I’d want them to be like her. This has never been done. This is four times. And the way she carries herself is exactly why she deserves it.”

A’ja Wilson, a seven-time All-Star and three-time Defensive Player of the Year, now adds another milestone to a résumé that also includes two WNBA championships. She will receive a specially designed trophy by Tiffany & Co.

The Las Vegas Aces open their semifinal series against the Indiana Fever on Sunday. They are chasing their third championship in four years.
