If only Ballislife were around in 1978. I can imagine the joy of recording a teenage Human Highlight Film on Super 8 Film, editing the footage with some Isley Brothers or Funkadelic, and then having it transferred to tape so I can watch it on my Betamax.
Shout out to ScoutFocus.com for showing us this rare 1978 footage of Dominique Wilkins at Washington High School, where Nique’s jersey was retired last week.
MORE SHOUT OUTS
Shout out to CBS for naming Nique the 4th greatest dunker in NCAA history.
Shout out to the Utah Jazz for drafting the future 7x All-NBA and one of the greatest and most exciting scorers in NBA history with the 4th pick in the 1982 NBA Draft and then trading him to the Hawks for John Drew, Freeman Williams, and $1 million.
Shout out to TBS in the ’80s and early ’90s for showing Atlanta Hawks games on Tuesdays. This allowed me, living in Florida, to witness some of these highlights from the Human Highlight Film.
The Human Highlight Film
I think he’s one of the 3 greatest in-game dunkers ever. Maybe 2. pic.twitter.com/7roo1tGNku— David Astramskas (@Redapples2021) January 12, 2022
Shout out to the NBA50 voters who didn’t snub the man who averaged 30 points over three seasons and put up 29.1 points a game in his mid-30s after rupturing his Achilles tendon in 1992.
NOTES FROM THE FUTURE: He was named to the NBA75 team
Bonus Video: Here’s the first career mix I made about Niq ue in the early 00s. I can’t even tell you how many VHS tapes I had to go through to make that video.
