"The revolution will not be televised"
One of my favorite Nike ads ever came out in 1995 and it featured Jason Kidd, KG, Eddie Jones, Jimmy Jackson and a rookie Joe Smith playing ball to the sounds of KRS-One talking about the revolution and how "you wont be able to catch the highlights on the evening news."
Last night, the new revolution was not televised and not shown on the evening news as rookies Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine and their Wolves faced off against Jabari Parker and the Bucks in a non-televised game that most hoop fans didn't even know happened.
What they missed was #2 pick Parker, putting on a show with a game-high 21 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals and a sick game sealing spin move and dunk.
Coach Jason Kidd, who was in the original Nike Revolution ad, had no problem giving the Nike wearing rookie the ball in crunch time.
"We all know that he's athletic," Kidd said. "We've gone to him a couple times down the stretch in preseason just to see how he reacts. He makes the right plays, and no matter what he did in scoring the ball, he made the right play."
Wiggins had 10 points and 6 rebounds in 27 minutes and last year's #1 pick Anthony Bennett had 12 and 11.
Don't worry the next match-up between these players will be televised!
