Continuing our pre-season hoops coverage, I made the journey to Dallas to take in the GASO JUCO/Prep Showcase. Held at the gorgeous Duncanville Fieldhouse, the JUCO/Prep Showcase blended over 50 JUCO’s and prep schools from throughout the country under one roof with courts that made things eeasily accessible to watch multiple games at once. Blue Zertuche, Michael Timmons, and the rest of the GASO staff made things seamless.
Ballislife FAB 50 candidates Dynamic Prep (Texas) and Oak Cliff Faith Family (Texas) headline the group of prep teams with both coming off stellar 2024-25 campaigns. Dynamic Prep, led by consensus top-3 2027 Marcus Spears Jr., was runner-up in the Chipotle Nationals and will be competing in Overtime Elite this season. Oak Cliff Faith Family opted to leave the Texas UIL last season and won the EIBC National Championship last year, and join the EYBL Scholastic League for the 2025-26 season. Countless other prep and charter schools from within the region made the journey to Duncanville, culminating with a loaded two day event:
Having already taken a look at the top high seniors and the top 2027 standouts, here are the top underclassmen we saw at the 2025 GASO JUCO/Prep Showcase:

Josiah Rose, 6’4, SG, Oak Cliff Faith Family (Texas), 2028
The definition of a power guard, this five star guard used his physical style of play to punish anyone who was put in front of him at the GASO Prep Showcase. The lefty is a fearless straight line driver with his explosive first step, is a beast on the glass on both ends, and had a ton of powerful finishes at the rim via outstanding cuts. Toss in the fact that he brings grit on the defensive end and you see why high major programs have already offered the sophomore.
Parker McDaniel, 6’2, PG/SG, South Central Prep (Oklahoma), 2028
The best shooter of the underclassmen was undoubtedly McDaniel, a heady combo guard out of Oklahoma. The sophomore played with remarkable poise making decisions with the ball, threw defenders off by changing speeds, and was a constant threat to shoot the ball off the dribble or with his feet set no matter where he was on the floor. In fact, a prominent basketball figure involved with Dynamic Prep was overheard yelling at the team “I have no idea who that kid is, but don’t let him touch the ball” once McDaniel got rolling. Fresh off of a USA Basketball invite, Parker is already beginning to look like he is the next big name prospect out of Oklahoma.
Xavier Young, 6’10, PF/C, Oak Cliff Faith Family (Texas), 2028
The Co-MVP of the Pangos All-South Frosh/South Camp may not start for a loaded Oak Cliff Faith Family group, but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t impact the game at the GASO Prep Showcase. Playing behind the Wake Forest bound senior Placide twins, the 15-year old ran the floor hard, finished above the rim, and showed the immense talent that makes him next in line. Having just returned from USA Basketball mini-camp, Young is carrying a ton of momentum from the fall into his EYBL Scholastic season.
Aiden Clark, 6’0, PG, Legacy Sports Science (Tex.), 2028
The MVP of the Pangos All South Cream of The Crop Top 30 game took on a different role with his high school squad at GASO, but still maintained the same level of effectiveness. The lefty playmaker was outstanding in pick and roll play with ability to change speeds, finished with creativity at the rack to get ball up over the trees, and shot it well enough to keep defenders honest. Through his play with Max Levels Elite on the New Balance circuit and moving onward this fall, Clark cemented himself in the conversation as one of the best lead guards in Texas for 2028.
Jason Jackson, 6’3, SG, Dynamic Prep (Texas), 2028
The perfect glue guy for Dynamic Prep, Jason Jackson had no problem coming into the game and putting immediate pressure on defenders the second he touched the rock. The sophomore is a remarkable finisher at the rim who looks to draw contact, can convert in traffic with either hand, and is creative enough to finish around defenders when he can’t go over the top. Jackson will prove essential as a scoring threat to Dynamic Prep’s chances to win Chipotle Nationals this season.
Ayden McDonald, 6’1, PG/SG, Lewisville iSchool (Texas), 2029
In an event laden with upperclassmen and post-graduates, there weren’t many freshmen playing at GASO, but McDonald is not your average freshman. The combo guard was a lights out shooter from the perimeter, remained exceptionally poised when pressured, and comfortably played either backcourt position when needed. McDonald showcased his talents in the Under Armour Association playing up with It’s Fox Nation and his ability to shoot the cover off of the ball makes him a name you will want to remember in 2029.
